In keeping with its objectives Glenorie Probus Club has had a busy time. The club members traveled north for a day at the lakes with first stop at the Brooklyn Marina for morning tea.
Following this relaxing break it was onto Budgewoi for a very pleasant walk and relax by the lakeside and a fish and chip lunch with good companions.
The only complaint with the lunch was the large quantity with many not able to consume it all and many deciding to forgo dinner that night. The weather was onside that day and a great day was had.
The clubs monthly meeting was 24th April and the club devoted the meeting to remembrance of Anzac Day. An Anzac Day display had been prepared and set the tone for the meeting. The opening address was given by Commodore Ranford Elsey RFD RAN (retired) and he reminded members of the sacrifice of so many soldiers at Gallipoli and all the wars.
This was followed by a talk giving details of a number of people who had active involvement in the wars and were worthy of recognition. The meeting concluded with a talk giving the background history of the Anzac Biscuit, with samples. It was a very appropriate meeting given ANZAC day was the next day.
This month will see the club visit the Sydney Tramway Museum, Hyde Park Barracks and the Museum of Sydney. The Club meets on the at 11.00am on the 4th Wednesday of the month at Glenorie RSL and new members are welcome. Contact Wendy Black on 9653 1022 or email [email protected]
