“If God Is For Us Who Can Be Against Us: Get To Know – Him.”

The waiting is finally over! Nine months of preparation has come to an end ANDfinally – that precious baby is born into the family. With excitement and a little fear and trepidation, mum and dad leave hospital for home and so begins the adventure of a lifetime- bringing up their precious child.

So many years ahead to look after, train and protect this little person. “Where is the manual?” I hear people say. “I wasn’t trained for this,” they cry when plans or decisions need to be made.

One thing stands out. Essentially, parents are FOR their children. They want them to succeed, have a happy life, have friends, a good education, show respect and kindness to others, be responsible and loyal. Parents desire ‘the best’ for their children. They don’t always get it right and can make mistakes along the way. Often, their children don’t understand or agree with the decisions their parents make for them. “Why do we have to move?” “Why did you say ‘no’ dad?” As children, the big picture is often out of their reach and they need to trust their parents, whose responsibility is to nurture and train their children. Parents can explain, have discussions, listen to their children’s point of view, fears and emotionsand try to answer their questions on the journey to adulthood.

One thing stands out: essentially, parents love and are FOR their children.

God doesn’t make mistakes. He is a perfect Father to His children. “As for God, His way is perfect. The Word of the Lord is sure. He is a buckler, a mighty buckler to those who trust in Him.” (2 Samuel 22:31)

The bible says, “If God is FOR us, who can be against us? For God has proved His love by giving us His greatest treasure, the gift of His Son. And since God freely offered Him up as the sacrifice for us all, He certainly won’t withhold from us anything else He has to give.” (Romans 8:31-32)

Get to know Him- and through a relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ, you too will know Him as your perfect Father.
