Galston Garden Club

The plum pud and ham have been eaten, decorations are down and Christmas seems so long ago already. Once again club members celebrated Christmas together at the lovely Savannah in Mid Dural. Beneath twinkling lights in the trees, tables beautifully decorated by our resident florist Gillian and the gorgeous pianola playing in the background; it was a beautiful scene in which to reminisce over the past year while sharing a meal together provided by all members of the club. It was a delightful evening enjoyed by all and a fitting end to the year.

The New Year has been celebrated and we now turn our attention to 2018. Garden Club was in recess for January and given the heat, our time was needed to look after our own gardens; mulching, weeding, watering and watering. Hasn’t it been hot!

Our first meeting for 2018 will be on Wednesday 14th February; this will also be our AGM. We would love to see new members and don’t worry, you won’t be roped in for a job, Executive positions only need to be voted on. Club meetings give you the opportunity to improve your gardening knowledge and our Social Committee is again organising some terrific guest speakers and excursions for this year. Of course there is also a wealth of knowledge that you will gain from our friendly members who are only too happy to share their gardening tips. We have an extensive library that members may borrow from, which is ably manned by Pam. Christine, who organises our trading table is always busy and our supper co-ordinator Greta always provides a yummy supper. Garden Club meets on the 2nd Weds of the month at the Galston Community Centre 37 Arcadia Rd., Galston 8.00pm, new members are warmly welcomed.
