The Galston branch of the Country Womens Association is closing out the year with warm gratitude for the community that continues to rally behind its work. Members say the generosity of locals has been the driving force behind their ability to support residents in need, particularly during the busiest months of the year.
As Christmas approaches, the group is extending heartfelt well-wishes to the wider Galston community, hoping the season brings time for rest, connection and celebration. For many members, the end of the year is also a moment to reflect on the countless small acts of kindness that help sustain the CWA’s grassroots efforts.
One of the branch’s most cherished traditions is the creation of homemade jams and preserves — a craft that relies heavily on donated fruits and vegetables from local growers and backyard gardeners. These contributions not only keep a beloved CWA staple alive but also strengthen the sense of community pride the group is known for.
The Galston CWA meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at the Galston Health and Community Centre on Arcadia Road, where newcomers are always greeted with an open door. The first gathering for 2026 is scheduled for Wednesday 11 February.
