Galston artist Kirrily Jordan is taking her love of weaving from our local bushland to the jungles of Peru. In March 2026, Kirrily will lead a nine-day Peru Textiles Tour to support Indigenous women weavers from Santa Ana.
The journey invites participants to travel deep into the Peruvian Amazon, learn traditional weaving techniques, and experience how art can bridge cultures and celebrate community.
“It all began right here in the Hills,” says Kirrily. “The plants and landscapes may differ, but the joy of creating with our hands and connecting through craft is something that unites us everywhere.”
“And for the women of Santa Ana, the project will provide meaningful income and recognition for their incredible skills and cultural knowledge.”
Closer to home, Kirrily continues to offer local weaving workshops through November and December — a perfect way for locals of all ages to relax, learn, and make something beautiful.
