Festival of the Scarecrow- Bringing Back the Cheer

The Festival of the Scarecrow | 1 OCTOBER – 15 NOVEMBER 2021

It’s time to unbridle your creative flair. With excitement, the organisers, Arcadia Galston Residents Association (AGRA2159), announce their plans for The Festival of The Scarecrow. This celebration has two components, a Scarecrow exhibit and a colouring-in competition.

Having had so many community events cancelled due to Covid-19, AGRA couldn’t bear to leave 2159-ers without a little something to bring some extra cheer and colour to Arcadia, Berrilee, Fiddletown and Galston. So 2159’s very own Festival of The Scarecrow was conceived with a view to captivate the attention of the local community (and visitors!) whilst ticking all the Covid Safety boxes.

ALL residents of postcode 2159 of ALL ages, businesses, schools, fire brigades, retirement villages, clubs and associations are encouraged to create their personality-packed Scarecrows and then display them on their property.

The organisers are looking forward to seeing vibrant/quirky scarecrows adorning gardens, paddocks, yards, studios, businesses/shop fronts, stables, workshops, arenas, sheds, verandahs, etc. in each Street, Road, Place, Lane, Crescent, Way, Close and Avenue of postcode 2159!

Every Festival of The Scarecrow needs Colouring In Competitions! Download the Pro-forma and get busy with your watercolours, acrylics, pencils, charcoal and pastels. Every artwork received will be displayed in a Gallery, hopefully physically but most definitely virtually!

There are some great incentives to participate with a total prize pool of $1,000 across The Scarecrow displays and Colouring In competitions.

Independent, professional, highly regarded and nationally recognised judges have been appointed to make the final announcement. These judges live in the Hornsby LGA; however, they do not reside, work or own businesses in 2159.

Get your entries in by 31st October. Winners will be announced on 15th November. Keep your eyes on websites, Facebook pages and the December edition of the Galston Community News. So that everyone can take a self-guided tour of the scarecrow exhibition, a pdf listing of all the scarecrow addresses will be available for download.
