The keen ladies at Dural Country Club have had to fit their games around blistering heat and wet days but nothing dampened the excitement when Robin Davidson’s team won the Northern Suburbs District Senior Fours! Elizabeth Whelan, as lead, set the team up, the second Eileen Bromley, third Diana Sweeney and skip Robin built on that foundation. They defeated some top teams early before meeting the Asquith team in the final.
Diana Sweeney also had the honour of being chosen as the Women’s bowls candidate in the Country Club’s Sports Person of the Year (2016) competing against representatives from the other sporting clubs. Diana has had a very successful period on the green but this award was also for contributions to the respective clubs. Vivienne Truelove from the Fishers’ club was the winner chosen by an independent panel. Well done to all the nominees.
In between these events 112 players from as far as Merrylands and Lawson played in the Summer Carnival which was won by a Castle Hill team. Jan Hain, Chris Fitzgerald, Terri Hezlett and Sue Vindin won the afternoon prize.
The annual pennants are starting and free lessons are always available for any man or woman wishing to take up the bowling challenge. Ph: 0432 181 635 or 0427 478 564
