More than 430 young adventurers and their families converged on Camp Ku-Ring-Gai at Cumberland Reach for the 2025 Greater Western Sydney Region Cuborette, transforming the Hawkesbury riverside into a hive of energy, teamwork and imagination. Among them were the enthusiastic Cub Scouts and Leaders from Dural, who embraced the weekend with the trademark spirit that has long defined the local group.
With perfect weather setting the tone, over 255 Cub Scouts threw themselves into a packed program of activities designed to challenge, inspire and, above all, entertain. Dragon boat racing across the shimmering water proved a favourite, while jousting, archery and a suite of Viking-themed games pushed participants beyond their comfort zones.
Cubs navigated an intricate maze, raced remote-controlled cars, identified spices and herbs, and even tried their hand at Viking writing, armour making and chess. The day’s excitement culminated in a large-scale wide game, before everyone settled under the stars for an outdoor movie night complete with popcorn.
Behind the scenes, the Cuborette was powered by a robust team of supporters. Scouts, Venturers and Rovers designed and ran each activity base, while Leaders, parents and carers handled logistics, from tents to meals to the famously creative gateways that greeted each group. Their combined effort ensured a seamless experience that left many young participants hoping the event becomes an annual fixture.
For families looking to introduce their children to outdoor adventures, teamwork and lifelong friendships, the Dural Scout Group is welcoming new members aged five to 25.
