Dural Bowlers Get Off the Green for a Day

A very interesting and successful Fashion Parade was held in the Kenthurst Uniting Church Hall. An appreciative group of guests, replete from a sumptuous homecooked morning tea enjoyed the parade of cool weather clothes provided by Stafford fashions. The models were from the playing members of the club except for the obliging, and natural, daughter of the club’s hard working secretary and all looked very smart and elegant. There will be a lot of smart ladies shopping or playing in the hills area as it cools down. A number of people were lucky enough to win one of the lovely raffle prizes.

Back on the green, 26 teams from as far as Newport and Blacktown competed in the Dural Autumn, sponsored by Anglican Retirement Villages and TJ Andrews Funeral Services. Lunch was served in the courtyard, specially decorated by the social ladies and was declared delicious and the weather, although hot, did not mar the quality of the bowls. Beecroft ladies, Lyn Beaumont, Helen Hynd and Jan Morris won the day. The Runners up were from Blacktown Workers with The Hills and Castle taking the minor prizes.

While the ladies have been socialising the men have been very serious with Richard Thorp (Right) winning the Major Singles title. One of the club’s young guns, he needed all his experience to defeat Phil Bonvino playing his first major final.

The readers will have an opportunity to try bowling at the Country Club on May 19 at 10.00am to 1.00 pm. All welcome, bowls supplied. Contact Rob, 0411 375 580 or Eileen 0432 181 635
