CHRSL Dolphins Swimming Club members made a big splash at Hornsby pool earlier this year at the 2024 RSL State Swimming Championships, where the club was represented by 51 enthusiastic swimmers.
With ages ranging from 7 to 17, these young athletes were ready to show their skills and represent their club and Castle Hill RSL with pride.
This annual event is open to all affiliated RSL Youth Clubs and is a highlight for swimmers across New South Wales, who compete in trials during November and December for places to represent their Zone as a State Representative. The 2024 RSL State Swimming Championships were held on 9th March, and CHRSL swimmers competed as part of the Zone 4 team, in multiple individual events and many relays.
Club President, Angie Soliman said the many Championship events are great for team spirit and add to the camaraderie and excitement of the day. “What set the CHRSL Dolphins Club apart was their impressive turnout.
With 51 club members selected to swim, they comprised the largest contingent representing Zone 4. Their collective effort paid off handsomely, as they clinched the title of overall point winners for their zone, showcasing the depth of talent within the club, and winning all bar one of the many trophies that were on offer,” she said.
The success of the club, which has grown in numbers significantly over the past year, continued at the 2024 National Age Championships, held at the Gold Coast in Queensland, between the 6th and 14th of April.
The number of swimmers representing the club at national level doubled compared to 2023, with 12 swimmers selected to represent the club in five individual events and three relay races. “ Many swimmers achieved personal best times, but perhaps most impressive were two athletes, aged just 14 and 15, who surpassed expectations by achieving National Open qualifying times, a testament to their dedication and hard work. “The display of teamwork and individual effort was outstanding and the support that our swimmers demonstrated for each other was commented on by many other clubs.
Iain Cox (Club Vice President) said: “The team spirit and support shown by our swimmers at every event they attend, including Friday club races, is a testament to the strong family-orientated culture within the club where the swimmers are supported by a highly committed team of technical officials, board members and, of course, the coaching team from Castle Hill Swimming. “The future of the Dolphins is looking fantastic.”
