Community Projects Proposed for Funding

By Dr Peter Gangemi - Mayor of The Hills Shire Council
$2.3m worth of Community projects proposed for funding.

The Hills community could see $2.389m worth of new community projects in the near future. Council has recommended the following 11 projects for funding through Phase 3 of the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) program:

1. Kellyville Park – construction of amenities building and community facilities $1,560,000

2. Withers Road Reserve, North Kellyville – improvement of reserve $350,000

3. Highs Road, West Pennant Hills – right turn facility into Wirreanda Village and bus bay $200,000 (funding to supplement existing funding of $639,377 in Council’s works program)

4. Crestwood Reserve – refurbishment of dog off-leash facility $120,000

5. Council Administration Centre, Norwest – electric vehicle charging station customer carpark $30,000

6. Hawkins Lookout, Wisemans Ferry – picnic shelter $29,442

7. Blue Ridge Court, Glenhaven – road surface improvements $25,000

8. Oxlade Street Reserve, North Kellyville – picnic shelter, table and benches $20,000

9. Annangrove Public School – footpath widening $20,000

10. Beaumont Hills Public School – footpath widening $20,000

11. Kenthurst Public School – footpath widening $15,000

These projects, if approved, would create new opportunities for recreation, improve safety and provide greater facilities across our four Wards.

Parramatta Eels and Council are making a substantial investment into Kellyville Park as the home of Rugby league in The Hills, and this further investment would provide even greater facilities for the community.

The first electric vehicle charging station at Council is proposed for residents to use – and that is very exciting.

Council is always looking to promote the rural north of our shire and a picnic shelter at Hawkins Lookout overlooking the Hawkesbury River will be greatly used by our residents and outside visitors.
