Celebrate Deerubbin — a Festival of the Hawkesbury River! Hornsby Shire Council, the Brooklyn Community Association and The Cottage would like to invite you to a special event to celebrate the Hawkesbury River and its people.
Join us on Saturday 18 June from 10am to 3pm at The Cottage (10 Dangar Road, Brooklyn) for:
- A Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony
- A guided bushwalk to Brooklyn Dam
- Short presentations by local industry representatives – Oyster growers, Pearl growers, commercial fishermen and the Hawkesbury-Nepean Coastal Management Program
- A kids’ painting workshop making paint from rocks and oxides with local artist
- Pledge for the Hawkesbury River
- Photo exhibition by Nicole Matthews
- ‘First Nations Weaving Circle‘ by Ngumpie Weaving
- A sausage sizzle lunch
- A raffle
The event will also feature stalls from:
- Hawkesbury-Nepean Coastal Management Program
- Swift Parrot Project
- Sydney Wildlife
