Cash for your old fridge – and a chance at a prize

To celebrate the 10th Earth Hour Hornsby Shire Council is offering an extra incentive to get rid of your old second fridge or upright freezer – you’ll go into the draw to win one of four Bunning Gift Cards worth $50.

This is on top of the $25 rebate you can already claim if the removal does not involve more than six steps, not to mention the money you will save through energy efficiency and that Fridge Buyback will pick it up for free.

“All around the world people are going to turn off their lights to mark Earth Hour,” Hornsby Shire Mayor Steve Russell said.

“Why not make a more lasting contribution to our planet’s health and get rid of your energy-guzzling second fridge or upright freezer?”

Your second fridge produces about a tonne of carbon pollution year and contain nasty refrigerant gases that are harmful if released into the atmosphere.

Fridge Buyback will collect your fridge or freezer for free, as long as it has a capacity of at least 200 litres, and a fee will only apply if your property has more than 20 steps.

Fridge Buyback will then dispose of it, ensuring the metals are recycled.

The competition is being run in partnership between Hornsby Shire Council and Fridge Buyback.

To enter bookings need to be made before 30 June, 2017. To make a booking phone 1800 708 401 or visit www.fridgebuyback. com.au.
