I recently spent some time with the wonderful kids at Arcadia Public School. The school had received $8,000 from my office under the Community Building Partnership program to fix the access and drainage to the oval. That work is now complete and I hope it ensures the oval is in the best shape possible for the kids to play every day. I am very proud to have a school like Arcadia in my electorate and the wonderful teachers and Principal Sharon O’Brien are an asset to the community.
I am also pleased to announce construction of the multi-storey carpark at Hornsby Hospital has begun. This major project will create 520 spaces and ensure visitors and patients have plenty of parking while visiting the hospital and local residents will get their streets back.
The project is expected to cost $19.8 million and will be completed by late 2018. The community has been calling out for this for years, and I am proud to deliver another commitment for our community.
Constructions for the $200 million Stage 2 redevelopment of Hornsby Hospital should also start next year. This will include a new emergency department and five-store Clinical Services Building, a one-stop shop for a range of medical services. This investment in our Hospital will see it become a state-of-the-art medical facility which will service the Hornsby community not just now but into the future.
I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and I am looking forward to continuing to work for the Hornsby community in 2018.
