The following is a statement made on Monday, 15 December 2025, from the Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne, regarding the Bondi Beach Terrorist Attack.
“I am absolutely horrified by the terrorist attack at Bondi yesterday.
On behalf of The Hills Shire community, I extend our deepest condolences to the victims and their families, especially to Sydney’s Jewish community who were clearly the target of this hateful and antisemitic act.
To the Jewish community of The Hills Shire – we stand with you.
Antisemitism and hatred have no place in our society and must be condemned unequivocally.
I thank NSW Police, NSW Ambulance and the brave civilian heroes whose swift actions helped avert further loss of life.
Please keep the victims, their families and all those affected by this terrorist attack in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”
