September is National Biodiversity Month! To celebrate, Council invites you to come along this weekend to Hornsby Valley to enjoy a free community event and learn about the Shire’s majestic and rare Blue Gum High Forest! Take a guided bushwalk, visit our plant display and join the community planting along with a whole host of other fun and educational activities, including:
A free BBQ hosted by volunteers of Hornsby Lions Club – sausage sandwiches and bacon and egg rolls ☕️ A coffee cart available to purchase hot drinks
A native plant giveaway of plants grown at Warada Ngurang Community Nursery
Free guided bushwalks along the 1km Ginger Meggs Loop Walk through the very special type of Blue Gum High Forest in Hornsby Valley, the treasured and exceedingly rare Blue Gum Diatreme Forest
A self-guided wander along the 1km Ginger Meggs Loop Walk with a new flyer for guidance
A free nomadic nature safari for kids and families with live animals
Free nature crafts for kids
A Blue Gum High Forest plant display and information stall hosted by Council staff from Natural Resources Branch
This free event is taking place this Sunday 18 September 10.00 am – 1.00 pm at Ginger Meggs Park, Valley Road, Hornsby. No bookings or registration required. For more information, see:
