Australia Day celebrations embody Hills Shire community spirit

Australia Day at the Farm is set to be an exciting day out for families and friends with stellar performances from Australian icons David Campbell and Christine Anu along with free kids activities, Australiana displays and a dazzling fireworks display. Underpinning all the excitement and fanfare is a sense of community spirit and pride.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne, highlighted the significance of the Australia Day celebrations for The Hills Shire community.

“The Hills Shire Australia Day celebrations are important on many levels. Not only do the celebrations offer great activities and displays for locals to enjoy, they also bring the community together to recognise the dedication, commitment and community spirit exhibited by Hills Shire residents and our new citizens,” Mayor Byrne said.

Australia Day at the Farm will commence with Australia Day formalities held between 12 and 2pm and include a flag raising ceremony, citizenship ceremony, Australia Day ambassador address and Australia Day Awards ceremony.

“These formalities each represent important values held by the Hills community. The Hills Shire prides itself on offering a great and welcoming community for residents, that awards hard work and provides opportunities for our community to connect and celebrate,” Mayor Byrne said.

“I am looking forward to sharing Australia Day with the Hills community, welcoming new citizens and recognising the hard work of Hills locals to make our Shire the best community to be a part of.”

Australia Day at the Farm will be held within the historic grounds of the Hills Shire’s hidden gem Bella Vista Farm. The Australia Day formalities will be followed by the main festivities which run from 2-9pm, with main stage entertainment kicking off at6pm. For more information visit www.summerseries.com.au
