A Renaming at Brooklyn

On the 27th of August, on the former site of his ancestors’ farm, once a tip, once a dairy, once just a local cricket ground owned by Hornsby Council, a renaming took place before a largish crowd and became, The Tom Richmond OAM Oval.

The first balls were bowled on the new oval, some hit some not, speeches were made, many reminisced about their contact with a dear friend, family member, teacher, cricketer, historian, behind the scenes or vocal opponent of wrong and a beloved member of the Brooklyn community. It was a moving time for all.

Our picture shows some Mr Richmond’s family at the unveiling of one of several plaques at the site.
