Community Sponsorship Program Funding Round Opens

Strategic community investment remains a key priority for Hawkesbury City Council, with the second funding round of its 2025/26 Community Sponsorship Program now underway.

Open throughout March, the initiative provides tiered financial assistance to strengthen social resilience, improve access to facilities, and support regional representation at major events.

The Resilient Hawkesbury stream delivers grants of up to $3,000 to organisations running programs that enhance community cohesion and wellbeing. The Participation category supports individuals and teams formally selected to represent the Hawkesbury at state, national or international level, while the Access to Community Facilities stream offsets venue hire costs for not-for-profit groups servicing the region.

Data from the October 2025 round highlights a balanced distribution of funds across individuals and organisations. Nine local representatives received Participation support, five organisations secured funding for community-focused programs, and one group accessed a facility hire subsidy.

The program operates within a structured assessment framework, with applicants required to review strategic guidelines, eligibility criteria and evaluation matrices prior to submission.

As cost pressures continue to affect community organisations nationwide, targeted micro-funding models such as this are increasingly viewed as practical tools for sustaining grassroots activity while maintaining fiscal oversight.

Applications are open from 1 March to 31 March 2026.
