Join the Probus Club of the Hills for New Adventures

The Probus Club of the Hills welcomed author Jo-Anne Berthelsen as its October guest speaker, drawing an enthusiastic crowd eager for her trademark blend of humour and heartfelt storytelling. Berthelsen shared tales from her travels through Türkiye, England and Germany, recalling everything from light-hearted mishaps to genuinely nerve-racking moments.

One of the afternoon’s highlights was her account of arriving in Bath to discover a cavernous hotel room featuring a glass, four-sided shower positioned squarely in the middle — a design choice that left both her and her travelling companion baffled and amused.

Closer to home, the club’s walking group made the most of spring with a gentle wander through the Wisteria Garden at Parramatta Park, catching the final burst of blooms just in time.

Later in the month, members boarded a bus to Mount Wilson’s Windyridge Gardens, where rain failed to dampen spirits. The group explored the spectacular grounds, home to towering heritage trees including a 145-year-old pine.

To round out the day, members stopped at the Kurrajong Radio Museum, enjoying a charming journey through Australia’s broadcasting past, complete with Argonauts memorabilia and a classic Dad and Dave horse race recording.

The Probus Club of the Hills, based in Galston, welcomes enquiries from prospective members.
