August was a month of intense competition and sporting camaraderie at Dural Bocce Club, where members took to the courts every Tuesday morning and Friday evening for their regular matches.
The highlight of the month was the 2025 Men’s Pairs Championship. Unlike most club competitions, where teams are randomly drawn, this championship allowed players to choose their own partners. After three hard-fought rounds, the title came down to a thrilling final between two standout pairs. Congratulations went to Mario and Tony, who emerged as champions, with Guido and Ferdinando finishing as worthy runners-up.
Later in the month, Dural Bocce Club proudly sent a representative team—Mary, Aldo, Luciano, and Nick—to the prestigious Marconi Cup at Bossley Park. This annual event attracts top bocce teams from across Australia and is known for its high level of competition. The tournament spans two full days, beginning with a rigorous round-robin format and culminating in semifinals and finals.
While the Dural team did not finish in the top three, their skill, determination, and sportsmanship earned them widespread respect and recognition.
For those interested in giving bocce a go, Dural Bocce Club welcomes new members of all ages and skill levels. Contact Trisha Sundin on 0408 630 548 to join in the fun.
