Middle Dural Public School

At Middle Dural Public School we strive to meet the individual talents and interests of all of our students. We are responsive to student voice and seek feedback from them about what they would like to learn about each term. Our staff then make plans for how we can offer a variety of options which are going to engage our children.

We have just started another term of Interest Groups based on the strengths that have been observed by our teachers, the suggestions made by parents, and the ideas presented by our students. Term 3 will feature drama, 3D printing, sport and cooking which means that we will engage in all four domains of High Potential and Gifted Education. We are creative about the way we can tap in expertise and resources so that we can provide great variety.

We have been able to garner quite a lot of enthusiasm from our parents for cooking which means that each fortnight a different parent will be providing new recipes for children to prepare and taste. We have a lovely selection of healthy snacks to look forward to including sushi, tzatziki, pancakes, muesli bars amongst other tasty treats. Most recently we made mango, lime and turmeric sorbet and it was delicious!

We welcome Dallas Reedman who will lead drama with his great enthusiasm and talent. Thank you to our P&C for funding his expert guidance. With a wealth of experience in drama we look forward to seeing what talents he will uncover.

We have accessed an 3D printing kit from the STEM Booking System provided by the Department of Education – we have already selected some other amazing resources using the pool of technology that is available for schools to borrow for a term. With the support of our School Learning Support Officer, Mr Date, our students will be designing personalised keychains which will then become a tangible item to hang from their school bag!

In addition, we will be offering games to enhance social skills and sporting prowess with our wonderful teacher Miss O’Brien. Sport is always a hot favourite at Middle Dural PS so we will also be offering professional coaching in soccer and netball while participating in PSSA OzTag and Netball every Friday.

It’s going to be another amazing term of immersing ourselves into enriching learning experiences! If you would like to join our lovely school community, contact us on 9651 1761 or email us at [email protected] or visit our website to see our latest newsletter and other amazing activities.
