Women of the Homestead… the Unsung Heroines


Fagan Park, Galston. Sunday 5th October 10-4pm

The Friends of Fagan Park are preparing for an exciting event and invite the community to join them in the heritage precinct on Sunday, 5th October.

* We are featuring a very special exhibition, “Women of the Homestead…the Unsung Heroines” highlighting the day to day work of women, raising a family and keeping the home in order during the early 1900’s. The exhibition around Netherby Homestead will feature laundry displays, sewing, embroidery, christening gowns, dresses and stories.

* There will be local community groups with market style tables: Hornsby Historical Society and Dural and District Historical Society will have displays reflecting the local area. Galston CWA with an array of goods for sale, The Persimmon Place with fresh fruit, veg and honey and the Friends will have jams, plants, bric-a-brac for sale.

* The Friends’ fleet of heritage trucks, tractors and small machinery will proudly be on display and keep an eye out for “Puff”, the 1942 Gorge Firetruck. * FE and FC Holden Car Club are displaying their wonderful cars.

* Refreshments will be available: coffee, tea and a sausage sizzle.

* Market table purchases will require individual payments, so bring along some cash.

* Come along and support your local community and have a wonderful day out
