Windsor celebrated the grand opening of the newly upgraded Windsor Mall, a vibrant transformation years in the making.

The atmosphere at Windsor Mall buzzed with excitement, featuring live music, engaging roving entertainers, face painting for children, and enticing giveaways. Local stores and cafes joined the festivities by offering special promotions, creating a welcoming environment for both residents and visitors.

The event provided an opportunity for the community to explore the revitalized town centre, showcasing a delightful blend of modern elements and historical charm that highlights Windsor’s rich heritage. The ceremony was officially inaugurated by Stephen Bali MP, the Member for Blacktown and Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and Public Spaces, along with Hawkesbury City Mayor Les Sheather.

Minister for Planning and Public Spaces The Hon. Paul Scully MP said this transformation brings new life to one of Sydney’s most historic towns.

“It’s great to see this upgrade complete and I look forward to seeing the community embrace this renewed public space which has modernised Windsor’s historic mall while protecting its unique architecture and history.”

Member for Blacktown and Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and Public Spaces, Stephen Bali MP said the NSW Government’s funding has helped improve community facilities and provide renewed urban amenity to complement new housing across the Hawkesbury and surrounding areas.

“It’s great to see the upgraded town centre, which was made possible thanks to NSW Government funding, being celebrated by the community.”

Hawkesbury City Mayor Les Sheather said: “This is an exciting day for Windsor and for the Hawkesbury. After many years of planning, we finally have our renewed town centre.

“Windsor Town Centre is one of the oldest towns in Sydney and its rich history should be celebrated every day. The renewed town centre has brought new life to this iconic town, and we look forward to welcoming visitors, new and returning, to Windsor for many years to come.”

The Windsor Liveability Project has introduced several enhancements to the area, including stylish street furniture, landscaped garden beds, and upgraded pedestrian pathways that ensure safety and accessibility for all. Community members have also contributed to the initiative, purchasing engraved name pavers in 2021, which foster a sense of ownership and pride in the town.

Furthermore, the Western Parkland City Liveability Program has committed an impressive $15 million to the Hawkesbury City Council for upgrades in Windsor, South Windsor, and Richmond. In addition, the Hawkesbury City Council has contributed $3.75 million, while $1.24 million has come from the NSW Government’s Greening Our City program, aimed at promoting green infrastructure throughout the town centre. This initiative includes planting mature trees and creating green boulevards to help mitigate urban heat.

With these exciting changes, Windsor embraces its new identity, and the community looks forward to enjoying the improved amenities and gathering spaces that celebrate both its past and future.
