Glenorie Rural Fire Brigade partnered with the Hills Hawks Football Club at Hayes Park Galston on 5th July, for a fundraising and recruitment day during the clubs annual Gala Day.
RFS volunteer members from Glenorie and Middle Dural, plus our District Office were on hand throughout the day, engaging with the community and sharing important fire safety information.
Topics included preparing homes for bushfire season, winter fire prevention tips, the dangers of lithium batteries, and the importance of regularly testing smoke alarms.
The day was a fantastic success. Our team was able to provide valuable education while the community showed incredible generosity with their donations. These funds will go directly toward purchasing essential equipment and maintaining our existing gear, ensuring we’re always ready to support the community when needed most.
A big thank you to the Hills Hawks, their players, families, and supporters, and to you, our community for making the day such a great success.
We were also thrilled to receive interest from five community members keen to join the RFS. We look forward to welcoming these future firefighters to the brigade soon.
If you are wanting to give back to your community, and keen to be a part of something meaningful, find out how to join Glenorie RFS by contacting us via our Facebook page, or simply come in for a chat when we are open. The station is open Monday nights from 7:30pm and Saturday from 2:00pm.
