The vibrant spirit of the Arcadian community shone brightly on May 16th, 2025, as families gathered for our annual Walk to School Safely Day.
Fortunately, the rain held off for our morning walk, although some four-legged friends opted to stay home due to the wet conditions. Many families and their dogs met at the Rural Fire Service (RFS) Brigade Headquarters in Arcadia to kick off this cherished event.
The RFS were on hand to ensure the safety of our students and their families as they walked along the path to Arcadia Public School. A heartfelt thank you to our Parents and Citizens (P & C) Committee for mowing the pathway the weekend before, ensuring a safe and pleasant journey.
Special thanks to the dedicated Arcadian RFS, who opened their headquarters, provided trucks to alert passing traffic and walked alongside our families. Their incredible personnel ensured the children’s safety as they crossed the road outside of our school, stopping traffic when needed.
One of the highlights of the day was the stirring sound of bagpipes, led by the talented Jock McDonald, who inspired children to keep walking towards the school. “It was such a lovely sound!” remarked one parent, reflecting the joy in the air.
The walk concluded with a delicious breakfast of bacon and egg rolls, cooked by the parents of our Year 5 and Year 6 students. This gathering provided an opportunity for friendships to form and deepen as community members enjoyed their meals and caught up with one another.
Overall, Walk to School Safely Day was a celebration of the strong community spirit that defines Arcadia. We are excitedly looking forward to our next Walk Safely to School event in May 2026, and we invite everyone to join us in fostering a safe and connected community.
