
In an exciting honour, Galston Public School has been shortlisted as a finalist for Primary School of the Year (Government Sector) at the 2025 Australian Education Awards.
The awards celebrates the top-performing schools in the country for their difference that they make in the lives of their students and their school community. It’s the second year in a row that Galston Public has been nominated for the top award, having also been shortlisted in 2024. It is one of just three schools in NSW who have been nominated for the award in 2025.
Galston Public Principal Mr Allan Ison has also been recognised as a finalist for Primary Principal of the Year (Government Sector). The school’s Assistant Principals Mrs Alison Taylor, Mr Dean Finch, and Mrs Belinda Hitchcock were also recently awarded the prestigious Regional North Operational Directorate Excellence Award by the NSW Department of Education.
Principal Ison reflected on what these awards mean to the school community. “These awards are a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our entire school learning community, providing excellence in education for the children of the Galston local area. Every success at Galston Public School is one which celebrates our team approach to education”.
James Wallace MP, Member for Hornsby, also warmly congratulated Galston Public School on its achievements. “The teachers, staff and parents at Galston Public School do an excellent job delivering for its students every day. They don’t do it for awards, but these nominations are a worthy recognition for the school.”
