On behalf of all of us at Glenorie Rural Fire Brigade, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to James Wicking for his 6 year tenure as President at GRFB, as he has decided to step down from this role, however, will remain a valuable member at the brigade.
James Wicking grew up in Glenorie; was a student at Glenorie Public School; is now married with two children and operates a family-owned business. He joined GRFB 12 years ago and on his 21st birthday, completed his Bush Fire assessment, which was his first qualification.
James’ roles at the brigade prospered, and he performed a broad range of roles including Community Engagement Co-Ordinator, Recruitment Co-Ordinator, Social Co-Ordinator, Deputy Captain, Vice President and President. Outstandingly, James was involved in welcoming approximately 75% of all current members to the brigade throughout the recruitment and interview process.
James Wicking’s term as President from 2019 to 2025, was remarkable. The brigade President is responsible for an array of duties including the brigade’s overall administration, and must have sufficient knowledge of the NSW RFS, the brigade structure and relevant service standards to correctly address or direct enquiries.
The President is responsible for facilitating and chairing executive meetings, general meetings and annual general meetings, which when you are a part of a large brigade, can be a considerably challenging task, and James absolutely excelled at this. We thank you James for your commitment and dedication to GRFB, and for being such a phenomenal President.
