The Bromeliad Society of Australia Inc will hold their next meeting at the Federation Pavilion, Castle Hill Showground on Saturday, 14th June with plant sales to the public from 10am and the meeting commencing at 12noon.

Our guest speaker is Edwina Wain, who will be talking about “Growing Bromeliads in her Tropical garden”.

Edwina will discuss the different types of bromeliads she and her husband Steve, have been growing in their tropical style garden for 19 years.

Edwina is an internationally accredited Bromeliad Judge and has recently been appointed as the NSW Judges Registrar. She has also won several major bromeliad competition awards.

Edwina’s true passion for bromeliads was sparked when she visited her mother in-law’s impressive bromeliad garden Edwina & Steve are members of Bromeliad Society of Australia, Bromeliad Society of NSW and Illawarra Bromeliad Society.

Their hunger for bromeliads led them to various plant shows and plant buying holidays in Queensland and making many friendships along the way.

Their collection amassed quickly and then multiplied. Edwina and Steve also have an interest in tropical plants and they found that bromeliads are a great fit in a tropical style garden. Edwina and Steve are active committee members of the Tropical Garden Society of Sydney.

Edwina and Steve’s bromeliads were featured in a segments on Gardening Australia in Oct 2023 and more recently 16th May 2025.

Their hobby and passion with bromeliads and tropical plants has now extended to selling at monthly markets.

There will also be our regular meeting activities such as competitions, Raffle, Show & Tell, and a more recent activity called just “Show” for people who would just like to share a plant with others without it being critically judged or discussed.

There is also an opportunity to meet like minded people in a friendly and inviting environment. Contact Ian Hook, mobile 0408 202 269, email: [email protected] website: www.bromeliad.org.au
