STUDENTS AND TEACHERS are thoroughly enjoying their ScopeIT sessions. Each class is participating in a 40 minute lesson every week throughout this term. During these lessons, students are instructed by a team of ‘Scopers’ who are fully trained and professional instructors. The teachers and students have access to the latest hardware, software and lesson plans. Kindergarten students are working with a 3D design tool which introduces students to the mouse and works to increase their abilities with a mouse. In Years 1-6 the basic elements of computer science and coding are being introduced. Students are working together to solve computational problems. These problems draw on and extend students’ knowledge about two-dimensional shapes, angles and position. The students are able to access platforms from home.
For some Library News. One of the recent LLTC’S (Library Lunch Time Challenges) has been the school Chess Tournament. The tournament was approached very professionally by all participants showing varying levels of skill. The final games of the tournament were played with Nicholas P and Elijah D competing for the championship. After a stressful, but quick battle Nicholas took the first place spot. Congratulations Nicholas and to the 2nd and 3rd place champions, Elijah and Braeden C, well done for playing such competitive and strategic games.
Stage 1 Excursion at the Hornsby Shire Historical Museum was a wonderful educational experience day for Year 1 and Year 2 students. They were commended for their respectful and responsible behaviour throughout the visit. A highlight of the day was visiting the old classroom and washing socks on the old washing boards.
Congratulations to all participants for their efforts and enthusiasm while competing in the recently held annual Athletics Track Carnival, Athletics Field Events Carnival and K-2 Athletics Fun Day. Thank you to all our parent helpers and supporters. We couldn’t do without you.
On sport again, congratulations to the school Netball Knockout team. Against strong opposition they played in Round 2 and despite not winning they were without doubt, gracious in defeat. Our team showed impressive sportsmanship with their effort, determination and perseverance as they faced strong competition.
