CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY
International Womens Day was on 8th March, and we would like to recognise, and celebrate all the extraordinary female volunteers at Glenorie Rural Fire Brigade. You are truly amazing!
The RFS is a big advocate for creating an environment where all women belong, are empowered to participate, and are valued for their contributions. We thank you for your courage, dedication, hard work and commitment to our team and to volunteering your time to help keep our community safe.
BEST ROAD HAZARD REDUCTION
The Hills District RFS executed a low intensity hazard reduction burn during the first weekend in March, which has taken more than 4 years of planning. The Best Road HR was in dense bushland area on both the Kenthurst and Middle Dural sides of O’Hara’s Creek, which has experienced bushfires in the past.
This complex burn covered 65ha in total, and involved over 65 trucks, consisting of more than 350 firefighters for a 3 day period. The success of the burn is significant because the reduction of fuel was achieved in such challenging terrain. Sending a big thank you to all the extraordinary volunteers at The Hills Communication Brigade for ensuring seamless communications, and to The Hills Catering RFS for looking after our firefighters and keeping them hydrated, well fed and energised.
This has been a monumental effort from all the volunteers who put their hand up on such short notice to help and we thank you for your contribution.
