Woodbury Reserve Skate Park Construction is Ramping Up!

Construction on the Woodbury Reserve Skate Park has officially begun, much to the excitement of families in Glossodia.

The project started on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, following the completion of the pump track at Woodbury Reserve in August 2024.

This skate park represents the next phase of the Woodbury Reserve upgrade, which is co-funded by the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants program, contributing $5.4 million, and the Australian Government’s Priority Community Infrastructure Program, which adds $3 million.

Local community members actively participated in two design workshops held in October and November of the previous year, offering valuable insights into their preferences for the final design.

Among those present at the official construction kickoff were local kids, Tate, Mason, Blake, and Ashton, who had attended the design workshops. They were joined by Federal Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman, and Hawkesbury City Mayor Les Sheather.

Ms. Templeman expressed her commitment to improving local facilities, stating, “My $3 million commitment to help Council transform Woodbury Reserve reflects the feedback I’ve had from Glossodia residents about the need for better local facilities.” Mayor Sheather added that the skate park is an exciting addition to the already popular pump track, which has drawn families from the community.

Although he could not attend the event, The Hon. Peter Primrose, MLC, acknowledged the significance of the skate park construction and praised the funding efforts from both state and federal Labor governments for enhancing community recreation facilities in the Hawkesbury area.

The Woodbury Reserve upgrade is set to follow the approved Masterplan adopted in February 2022, following extensive community consultations. It aims to provide the Glossodia community and its surroundings with essential passive and active recreation spaces.

The comprehensive upgrade will include the completed pump track and mountain bike tracks, the new skate park currently under construction, a new playground, multi-purpose courts, an amenities building, improved parking, the potential for a designated dog off-leash area, a shared path network, better access to natural areas, and additional shelters with barbecue facilities.

Weather permitting, the Council anticipates the redevelopment of Woodbury Reserve to be completed in the second half of 2027.
