Hills Shire Welcome 122 New Australian Citizens

Hills Shire Celebrates 122 New Australian Citizens

By Dr Michelle Byrne – Mayor of the Hills Shire Council

It was a privilege to welcome 122 new Australian citizens to our Australian family and to the Hills Shire at this week’s Citizenship Ceremony.

New citizens hailed from 32 different countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brazil, Iraq, Russia, Switzerland, Taiwan and Turkey to name a few.

As Mayor, I am grateful that so many are choosing to make the beautiful Hills their home. Thank you for sharing your diverse cultures and enriching our vibrant community.

The first photo is Deepak Kumar pictured with his wife and daughter. Deepak is originally from India and arrived here in Australia in 2016. He originally came on a student visa to attend Arthur Phillip High School.

After that, he went to Tafe NSW Nirimba (Quakers Hill) where he obtained a Certificate 3 in Carpentry and a Diploma in Building and Construction. Deepak now operates his own building company based in Rouse Hill. Deepak is grateful to live in the Hills and says that Citizenship means a lot to him and his family.

The second photo is the Benito family from South Africa. Tracey Anne Benito pictured with her daughters. They have chosen Kellyville as their home.
