Glenorie Rural Fire Brigade

OPEN DAY FUN
On the 3rd August, Glenorie Rural Fire Brigade welcomed the community into their station for an open day. It was a glorious day; the sun was shining, and it was a great success with more than 100 people coming to visit the team.

It was marvellous to meet so many people, both residents and visitors to our area and most enjoyable seeing the smiling faces on the children who attended when they were checking out the fire trucks and learning how to use a fire hose.

The sausage sizzle was a big hit, and we would like to say a huge thank you to Exclusive Meats North Turramurra for their generous donation of 100 sausages. Also, a big thank you to Women’s Work for their donation of relishes which were an absolute winner.

LITHIUM-ION BATTERY SAFETY
Lithium-ion batteries are the fastest growing fire risk in NSW.

  • Make sure a smoke alarm or heat alarm is working in rooms where batteries are charged or stored.
  • Do not charge batteries when sleeping or when you are not at home.
  • Charge batteries on hard surfaces that can’t catch fire.
  • Don’t use and charge batteries that are swelling, bulging, leaking, overheating, cracked, dented, punctured or crushed.
  • Large batteries like the ones used in e-scooters, e-bikes and power tools, should only be charged in the garage, shed, carport, away from living spaces and exits.
  • Once the device has a full battery, disconnect it from the charger.
  • If the charger didn’t come with the device or battery, don’t use it.
