The warmer weather is starting to wake up all sorts of sleepy snakes in our neighbourhood, from Red Bellies, to Browns and all varieties of pythons.
Recently, I was fortunate enough to witness the extraordinary event of my resident Diamond Python’s slow and steady migration from the roof of my house, to a tree in the garden and then up onto the NBN cable, where it continued to make a carefully executed slither along the narrow wire for about 10 metres to a neighbouring property.
While pythons are not poisonous, they can give a nasty nip if not handled correctly, so best to leave them to do their thing! They eat all sorts of vermin so can be handy to have on your property – but make sure any bird enclosures you may have are properly secured and snake- proofed.
