Earlier this year, Galston Public School was nominated by a member of the community at the Australian Education Awards in the category of Primary School of the Year (Government Sector).
We are now able to announce that we have been shortlisted and named as an awardee!
This is a fantastic honour for our school and recognises the work we have been undertaking over the past four years in the following areas:
- Individualised and small group learning
- Technology to engage our students
- Data-driven practice to ensure student engagement
- Physical activity and sports programs
- Holistic wellbeing programs
- Positive student behaviour expectations
Shortlisting for these awards is also an acknowledgement of the outstanding results we have been achieving with our students’ learning outcomes as reflected in external measures such as NAPLAN and Check In Assessments in reading and numeracy over recent years.
It goes without saying that being shortlisted in these awards is also a wonderful accolade which highlights the value of the relationships and community involvement at our school. Parents, students and staff should be very proud of the learning community we have created, and over the coming weeks we look forward to keeping our community updated with our progress in the awards process.

The Australian Education Awards, now in their seventh year, recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of the country’s top performing schools, principals, department heads and teachers.
Educational excellence in Australia’s schools will be recognised at a black-tie gala event being held at the Star Event Centre in Sydney on Friday 9th August 2024.
The Awards, spanning 29 categories, include Best Student Wellbeing Program, Education Rising Star of the Year, and Australian School of the Year, showcasing the best of what Australian education has to offer in 2024.
