Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “I think, at a child’s birth, if a mother could ask a fairy godmother to endow it with the most useful gift, that gift would be curiosity.”

Have you ever considered that curiosity is a gift? We like to observe what’s going on around us, looking outside ourselves with a desire to know and understand the world in which we live. Curiosity can help us develop habits and attitudes that can lead us into making positive life decisions. We ask questions and develop the ability to acquire new skills and knowledge. It is at the heart of what motivates people to learn and what keeps them learning throughout their lives.

Do you ever try to identify and seek answers to questions that pique your interest?

The bible is full of true accounts of people living their lives in their everyday world. Psalm 143:5 says, “I meditate on all Your works and consider what Your Hands have done.”

• Moses was curious when he came across a bush that continued to burn, saying to himself, “I will go and see this strange sight, why the bush does not burn up.” (Exodus3:3)- and God answered him.

• Abraham was constantly curious about his future and the future of his family group, asking God, “How will I know?” ( Genesis15) -and God showed him.

• At the time of Jesus’ birth, the shepherds, who were astronomers, were curious when they saw a different star in the eastern sky and followed it to Bethlehem, saying, “Let’s go and see this thing that has happened”

• ( Luke 2:15) – and they found the baby Jesus.

• Curiosity led Nicodemus to find Jesus and ask Him questions. (John 3) – and Jesus explained Himself to him.

• Curiosity led the thief on the Cross next to Jesus, when He was crucified, to defend Jesus and ask, “Remember me when You come into Your kingdom” – and Jesus answered the cry of his humble heart, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” ( Luke 23:43)

Jesus prayed about Himself and for others ( you and me); “that they may know You, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” ( John 17:3)

BE CURIOUS! FIND GOD FOR YOURSELF. IT’S ALL IN HIS WORD – THE BIBLE!!
