This follows the school being Champion School at the Zone Swimming Carnival in Term 1. She displayed great skill and sportsmanship at the recent North Sydney Area Trials, but was not chosen for the team. Every student has so many sporting opportunities at Hillside.

The senior students have been honing their problem solving skills and a embracing the challenge of participating in the APSMO (Australian Primary Schools Maths Olympiad) competition. This year there has been a focus on strengthening students’ writing. All students participate in many writing activities each week. They are looking forward to their participation in the writers’ workshop, early next term, with the Australian author Dr Cameron Stelzer.

The school is currently converting one of its classrooms into a dedicated STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) and Maker Space.
