News from Galston High School

Year 11 Crossroads Camp

The annual Year 11 Crossroads camp was held recently in the Snowy Mountains. Crossroads is a mandatory personal development and health education program for senior students and a highlight of the senior school. Students completed the RYDA road safety course before they journeyed south to Berridale. With recent snow falls, the more challenging aspects of the camp were guaranteed to be chilly; climbing Mt Kosciuszko, raft building in the Snowy River and attacking the assault course at Cooba being just a few. Once again, thank you to Mrs Searle for her organisation, and for coping with Ms Price’s joy at completing the assault course.

Visit from Chendu No 7 Middle School

Galston High has recently hosted 16 students and their teachers from Chendu in China. The students stayed for 2 weeks, accommodated in homestays and attending classes and activities with their Year 7 & 8 buddies. They experienced a taste of Australian life with visits to a number of iconic Sydney locations including the Opera House, a ride on the Manly ferry, a visit to the beach, patting a kangaroo, a number of BBQs and even our school athletics carnival. Thank you to our host families and we hope our visitors enjoyed being part of the Galston High community.
