A Plea from Salvos Stores

Of late we have been blessed with a huge inux of donations from the community. Everything from teaspoons to teddy bears, books to barometers, fur coats to sh food. It all arrives!

We sort through every box and every bag, and saleable items are priced and placed on our shelves to be sold. The proceeds are then directed back to assist needy members of our community. Excess clothing and shoes which may be a bit old fashioned or faded are sent overseas to help Third World poverty-stricken countries.

We are happy to accept clothing, shoes, hats, handbags and accessories as long as these items are clean and free from stains, tears, missing buttons etc. Homewares and picture frames sell well, as do books, stationery and craft items, DVDs and CDs, toys, sporting goods, linen and toiletries.

We cannot rehome your old cassettes and videos, electric blankets, plastic heaters, mattresses, broken china, rusty saucepans and tools, worn out sneakers, and electrical items that are no longer working. Please be mindful and place these in your own garbage bin.

Sadly, we have to empty the equivalent of six skip bins every week to dispose of items that we cannot sell, and this comes at considerable cost.

Please be mindful when you bring us your donations, that if things are broken, chipped, torn, stained or no longer working, the cost of us having to bin them may cancel out our earnings from yours and others donations. Thank you for your help.

On Thursday 29th March, the day before Good Friday, both Salvos stores will be having a STOREWIDE HALF PRICE DAY.

When you are next in the area, please call in and meet the teams at our Glenorie and Dural stores. We look forward to giving you a warm welcome.
