Inspired by the resilience of flood-affected residents from the Hawkesbury region, Rob Parina from Glenorie Bakery organised an interactive baking workshop for local children to bring some fun to the school holiday period after the devastating loss the recent floods brought to the area.
The workshop included 30 children who spent the morning baking treats and decorating Easter shortbread before enjoying meat pies and sausage rolls in the playground. The children were also excited to visit Bobby Bakehouse Junior Bakers Academy where they played with bunnies and baby chicks.
Bakery owner, Rob Pirina, says “As a small local business in the Hawkesbury area that has been recently impacted by the floods, we wanted to do whatever we could to support our locals and provide some positivity during such a difficult time”.
“It was great to see lots of smiling faces at this morning’s baking workshop. We will continue to support the community over the coming months and bring people together” Pirina continued.
The junior bakers from Friday’s workshop were sponsored by Stockland, one of Australia’s largest residential developers, who have been making donations to support the initiative.
