Phil claimed the title by defeating Doug Farlow 31-28, as the score indicated the game was very close throughout the entire match.” I started really well”, said Phil “but Doug kept coming back at me and after the thirteen ends we were even on 9 shots each.” Each player went shot for shot over the next few ends where on the 25 th end it was again all square at 18 shots each. Doug said “ From the 26 th end I really started to nail my shots and I was feeling comfortable with my game but weary of the ability of Phil”. Doug was up 26 to 18 after 28 ends and looking confident. Phil then found his rhythm again and started to catch Doug and by the 34 th end the scores were again locked up at 28 each. Only one more end was needed, where Phil scored 3 shots to defeat Doug 31-28. Doug was upbeat in defeat and said he was eager to come back next year and go one step further.
