Galston Road will be temporarily closed to all road users through Galston Gorge across two days in mid January for essential maintenance.
Transport for NSW Director Sydney Maintenance David Fishburn said the work is being carried out as part of the NSW Government’s $1.5 billion maintenance program which aims to improve the state’s road and bridge network.
“More than 5500 vehicles use this section of Galston Road each day so it is important to provide consistent conditions for all road users,” Mr Fishburn said.
“To allow maintenance work to be carried out safely, Galston Road will be temporarily closed between Calderwood Road and Montview Parade.
“Closing the road during the January school holidays while traffic volumes are lower will help to minimise the impact on road users.
“During the temporary closure, work will be carried out to repair drainage near Tunks Creek Bridge.”
Mr Fishburn said the 5.7 kilometre section of Galston Road will be temporarily closed between 10pm Monday 13 and 10pm Wednesday 15 January, weather permitting.
“While the temporary closure is in place, motorists will be detoured via Old Northern Road, New Line Road, Boundary Road, Pennant Hills Road, Pacific Highway and George Street,” Mr Fishburn said.
“Motorists are advised to allow up to 30 minutes of extra travel time while the detour is in place.
“Traffic control and electronic message signs will be in place to advise motorists of the temporary closure.”
